"Camping at Figueroa Mt's."

During the Summer of 2007, the Zaca fire in the Los Padres Nations Forest broke loose and burned down 240,207 acres between July 4th and August 5th 2007. The acrylic painting, "Camping at Figueroa Mt's" (above) is of a quiet camping spot I used to go to with my friends. It's about a mile hike from the last parking/camping area, called Nira. Anyhow, I haven't been back there in a year and won't be open until after the rainy season of 2008. I hope this wonderful place didn't burn down.

Everyone goes through hard times in there life just as I did when my grandfather died in 2003. This painting was created a few years after his death. On the day I painted this large 4 ft x 5 ft acrylic painting, I remember feeling much better than before. I realized I would she him again and that he wasn't in pain any longer. The flowers I painted were from he's memorial. |

Dream of Change was one of those very moody paintings. I started it when I was depressed and confused about what I should do with my life. I was at a point where I knew if I stayed doing the same as I was I would never be happy.
This painting was created during this long journey I had to walked through which included the ups and downs.
This painting took about three + months to finish. There are Black Sabbath and Ozzy lyrics , my thoughts and feelings I written into the swirling background of my journey.

The Pink Water Lily (above) is from a photography I took at Monet's Garden back in July, 2005. I started with a vibrant red background then painted in the lily, leaves and water. A piece is always more interesting when there is another image or solid background color to enhance the top layers of color.

This image was a detail part of the acrylic painting I did called "Sunset in Paris". I thought the structure of this building was very interesting. The color of it would change throughout the day, from light blue in the morning to purple in the evening and green at night from the lights below. It had rust and water marks which artists have always been attracted to. The terra cotta chimney caps were also a neat contrast of materials to paint. This building was housing located across from the apartment I was staying at in Paris, France.
