Los Padres Studio and Garden Tour!!!!

The Los Padres Artist Guild is holding the 5th Annual Studio and Garden Tour on Saturday June 14th, 2008!!! Come view artworks by over 60 local Central Coast Artists!!! To attend all you need to do is purchase a $10 booklet which atmits two people! The booklets have a map to guild you to the studios containing approx. 67 artists!! Hope to see you there!!! Who Jennifer McDuffie IS

Jennifer McDuffie was brought up in the small town of Orcutt located on the beautiful Central Coast of California. By looking at her whimsical landscapes and Oak trees, you can see how influencial Califorina has been for her and the artworks she creates. For the past five years, Jennifer has been an art vendor at many art festivals along the central coast including: Art in the Park at Dinosaur Caves in Shell Beach, SLO Studios Tour in San Luis Obispo, the Live Oak Music Festival located South of Cachuma Lake, Morro Bay Art in the Park in Morro Bay, AHC Art Festival in Santa Maria and the Halcyon Store Art Festival in Halcyon, CA. She also displays artwork for sale at her own Studio, Stinn Jewelry & Art Gallery, Gold Coast Art 'n Frames, the Town Center Gallery (all located in Santa Maria, CA), and Laws Art Central in San Luis Obispo, CA. Jennifer works in a variety of mediums but puts her focus in landscape acrylic painting on stretched canvas. Ever since Jennifer turned 18 years old, she has been contracted to design and create murals. She has also been the master artist for community mural projects.

Artists Statment

All artists follow their own unique path in life. Many, who create artwork as children, grow away from art as adults. Multitalented people tend to pick different or stable careers and have been told the old "starving artist" myth over and over again. They allow this myth to influence their dreams and change their lives. Therefore, suppressing their true love and God given artistic talents. Those who don't give into this myth, are able show the world their feelings and emotions through their art.

The artworks I create are a reflection of my life. Many of my landscapes are a combination of my surroundings, place I want to go and my dreams. Many people ask me where my ideas come from. Most of them develope from several ideas formed together into one composition. If I'm outside at an art festival I'll paint the surrounding trees and hills. Sometimes I'll be reading an art related book or magazine and will get an idea of something I have to paint. Latly I have been having very vivid dreams with beautiful scenery in them. I just started creating paintings of them. My artworks seem to talk to people in many different ways. I've had people come up to me saying my artwork ia so bright and fulll of life, others have said they are all very moody. Most of the paintings I create are in a surrealist-like style. This style of painting lets the veiwer emotionaly respond to the artwork. Not just seeing whats in front of them but letting their imagine take over. I have a client that purchased an original still Life watercolor painting of cakes they placed above the dinning room table. They said, "everyday we sit a drink our coffee and see this painting. It makes me feel so good because of the colors and life it holds." This type of comment keeps me doing what I love best, creating and sharing my artistic talent with others.
